Proof is in the pictures

There were days when it took every ounce of determination to get myself out of bed and to the gym. I gave up meeting my best friend for dinner or weekend lunches; something we did on a very regular basis. I gave up going out to eat with co-workers for lunch. I gave up valuable sleep time. I made being healthy a priority and allowed for nothing to get in the way. That means that when I went to someone’s house for dinner, I brought my own food – and smiled when they made fun of me. Instead of eating a bagel that someone brought to work, I watched everyone else eat it because I had to stick to my meal plan. Instead of eating the free lunch my boss would order for me, I ate my frozen meal. There were times I had to go down my stairs on my butt because my muscles hurt so much. I have been on the treadmill almost in tears because I was so tired. There are times I have to change shirts before leaving the gym locker room because my shirt is so wet from sweat – all of this to get these results:
Beginning Weight – August 7th – 240lbs
Current Weight – July 7th – 167lbs
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS SO FAR: 73lbs

**Check out my first post for before pictures…

The past ten months have been full of tears, sore muscles, and a hell of a lot of sweat – but wow, what a journey! And the satisfaction of knowing that I am motivating so many other people, that people now look up to me? 100% WORTH IT; infact, it is reinforcement that people are now lookign to me which makes me want to work harder and continue down this path. So – to all of you who are reading this, I thank you!

When you receive inspiration and motivation from me and my story, pay it forward.

Wishing you a healthy lifestyle,

No more excuses…

I had to begin my journey somewhere, right? So I went to one of those weightloss surgery seminars! I sat there, listening to my options. I looked around and that was it. That was the the dose of reality I needed!

I left the seminar and decided that there was no way I was going to have a surgery that would force me to chew my food until it was liquid before I swallowed it. So in August, I signed up at a local gym and began to work out.

I realized that its not about being on a diet. Its not about a quick fix surgery, its not about someone else holding me accountable. This was about me. I did this to myself, I was the only one who could fix it. It took years to get me to the ooompa loompa body, it was going to take just as long to get rid of it.

For years, I used every excuse that I’m sure some of you have used.

  • “I don’t have time to work-out”
  • “I can’t afford it”
  • “Dieting is unrealistic”
  • “I tried a diet once, it didn’t work”
  • “It’s just genetics that I’m like this”
  • “I’m single and live alone, if I buy all that healthy food, it will just go to waste”

Guess what? These are all excuses. They make you feel better so that way you don’t have to do the hard work. They give you a reason not to do something. Its called “rationalizing” (kudo’s Carlos, that term came from you!)

Key lesson – if you want something enough, you will do the work to get it.

In The Beginning…

Alright, you’ve asked for this… so here is my blog!

As much as I can, I will add post’s that relate to my journey on weight loss so first, let me give you some background on me.

I am 26 and live with my boyfriend, Carlos. We live in a townhome 10 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis. I am very close to my three sisters, my friend Nicole, and my parents. They are my best friends!

Growing up, I was always overweight. I have always been on diets. In fact, I can remember my mom buying me those richard simmons dancing movies! Ha…

In August of 2008, I realized I was an ooompa loompa (proof below)

Okay, well I wasn’t as short as an ooompa loompa nor was I orange but holy goodness was I fat!

The rest of these blogs will be sharing my success stories, my failure, what I’ve learned and funny stories along the way…

When you receive inspiration and motivation from me and my story, pay it forward.
