Back to Tracking

Happy Monday!

The weekend flew by, as does most weekends. It was so beautiful here in Milwaukee. I did a 20min home yoga video on Friday night and then Francisco and I met a friend and her boys at Harvest Fest on Saturday morning. We also took a lot of walks both Saturday and Sunday.  All weekend, I tried really hard to pay attention to my eating this weekend. I mentioned in one of my posts last week I know I not only need to focus on getting more movement in my day, I also need to work on my eating. On Saturday, even though we were at the fair from 9:30am until 1:15pm, I skipped eating from any of the fried food vendors and instead came home to have lunch. Usually, I would have just allowed myself to eat there because it was “lunch time.” Small victory.

I spent a few hours on Sunday preparing food for this week. I roasted chicken, cauliflower, made an egg bake and made some meatballs for Francisco. I bought a few different Chopped salads from Dole which make grabbing a salad so easy during the week, I just add chicken and I’m done. I’m also back to tracking this morning using my trusty DietMinder journal. I’ve gone through multiple of these over the years. But, one change I’m making is NOT recording calories. I really want to focus on the foods I eat, the quality of foods, not the calories. I don’t want to fall into a low-calorie diet mentality again.

Over the weekend, I fixed the blog so that my posts will show up on the front now. You can still find archive entries from other PriorFatgirls from the menu at the top.

Francisco was up every 3 hours last night so tonight will an early bed time for me. I’m looking forward to it already!

  1. Proud of you! Keep those small victories going and soon the small ones will turn into big ones.

  2. Welcome back, its so good to see you. I wish I had great words of advice. But I relate more than you can imagine and my kids are 17 and 14. It’s hard to be a mom, but you will have to find a balance that works for your family. I do understand what you are saying about having an hour and all the things that can be done. The cleaning will always be there and the laundry will be there. You need to make sure to take care of you. There is a very wise statement that says, if mama ain’t happy, no one is happy. It really is true. Maybe you can set a workout routine a few nights a week and then the other nights spend time with Carlos. Because time together is important too. Or maybe you could find a workout that Carlos could do with you, although I don’t recommend yoga because you need to be quiet and centered too. I wish I could tell you it gets easier, but it just gets busier as they get older. Your best bet is to find a way to exercise as a family. I am insanely jealous that your baby goes to sleep at 630, I don’t think either of my kids went down that early. I can offer this as advice, definitely keep up with the meal planning. I finely got back to this a little over a year ago and it helped so many issues in my life. For one I wasn’t being asked 3 different times what is for dinner because I would post it. If you do post it and Carlos is home before you, he can start on dinner. It helped me make a grocery list and make sure everything was in the house for the week. It’s work up front but I usually do that on the weekends, early in the morning when no one else is awake. It has helped me feel more connected as a mom knowing I’m cooking dinner almost every night. Sometimes they are quick and easy meals, but they are still made with love and I know I’m doing better than getting fast food or delivery. Plus it saves money. I have read your blog long enough to know – you got this. You just have to find the routine that is right for you!

  3. Welcome back! I have missed your posts!! I too am re-losing. Recovering from foot surgery in January that had me in a cast for 12 weeks….the rehab has been brutal and I have put back on another 20lbs. Tracking is key for me….I do well for a few days and then get so busy….I blink and its Monday again and I haven’t tracked for 5 days! You got this! I got this! We can do it!

  4. I have no tips or suggestions, I just want to say how happy I am that you’re back to blogging. Your blog was one of only 3 blogs that I have ever read regularly and while I’m glad you didn’t shut it down completely, your voice has been missed for sure.

I need to get my booty in gear as well and you’re an inspiration for sure. Welcome back Jen 🙂
