This is Real Life

by Dawn on February 27, 2013

There’s a lot going on in my life right now, most of which is out of my control. The biggest stressor is the possible sequestration and furlough of federal government workers…which includes both me and my husband. I am trying to have faith that it will all work out; that we actually won’t be furloughed and that we actually won’t lose 20% of our pay for the next 22 weeks – but it’s hard to stay mentally tough and optimistic.

I also haven’t been feeling well since last week so I haven’t been running or going to yoga. I’m run down, exhausted, and generally blah; my guess is that is has to do with my level of stress.  I hope that I will have time to go to a yoga class after work today because I have never needed a yoga class like I do right now. Saying that this would be a rough couple of weeks is an understatement.

I want to get back to the training updates and weigh-ins and hot yoga, but it’s going to take me a little while. I hope I have better news for my next post – my fingers are crossed that the US government gets their act(s) together sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, I’ll be here trying to hang tough like New Kid on the Block. :)

We are in the same boat only it’s my husband and I’m a stay at home mom so we are a 1 income family with 3 young kids and will really struggle if this furlough happens. :(
Praying!!!

Chris – it looks like they aren’t going to reach an agreement by tomorrow but my hope is still that they will get it together before furloughs actually start. Thinking of you and your family too. Hugs! <3

Hi Dawn! Long time reader, first time commenting.. sometimes real life happens, and it gets too much and too hard to be able to do more than survive. I have been there, and am only just coming out the other side. Hang in there and I wish you all the best!

Hi Megan, thank you so much. I hope that everything that was going on with you is better and I’m glad you’re coming out on the other side! That’s great news! I’m hanging in there and hope that I have better news soon. :) Thanks again for your comment – it means a lot.

Hi Dawn,

I’m so sorry to hear that this will affect you. When I read about it on CNN, I never understand who these changes will ultimately affect. Hang in there and don’t let stressors change your current healthy habits you worked so hard to obtain. Best wishes to a speedy resolve!
