Healthy hotel living?

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on January 30, 2013

Today starts a 5-day vacation for me.

Five days of airport traveling, hotel living. Iggy’s headed to Liz, another priorfatgirl’s house, to hang out – her son calls Iggy “his dog.”

{On a side note, is it weird I have friend stay at our house while we are gone because I hate the idea of an empty house?}

Healthy eating while traveling. I’m bound and determined to make it work. To find balance. To enjoy myself while traveling but not let myself go. Vacation is a time to get away but not a time to let eating get away from itself.

I packed snacks and am ready to go!

It’s been years since I’ve been to Las Vegas and never for a wedding. I cannot believe my baby sister, Alicia, is getting married! Her and her hubby-to-be have been together for 10 years and both very much deserve a lifetime of happiness together.

Carlos and I get in a day before everyone else so we’ll have some time to venture out by ourselves. There is a pedicure appt on Friday for my sisters and I, the wedding & dinner after but other than that, the whole group of us will just play it by ear.

I had my first Portuguese class last night and have some serious practicing to do. Almost everyone else in my class knows 3+ other languages, I’m not kidding. And a lot of them are somewhat comfortable with spanish so they have a really good start. The instructor knows 7 languages! I brought my book with so I’ll study that and plan on doing a lot if casual reading as well.

Alright friends, I’ll check in later from Vegas but for now, I gotta get on my flight!

Enjoy your vacay! {And no it’s not weird that you have someone stay at your house. We have someone stay at our house *and* watch our dogs. We are so grateful!}

Cheers~

Jen –
Not weird at all to have someone stay at your house!
I am wondering if you have any ‘inspirational’ Prior Fat Girl water bottles left in your store? I am/was a daily follower of your blog and then life happened ;-)
Please let me know.
Thanks!
PS I love you – just not in “that” way :)

I’m super impressed at your travel snacks. Travel is always my downfall…I struggle to avoid all the new, yummy foods that are of course super unhealthy. Will definitely try out some of your tips next time!

Good luck! I always gain weight as soon as I hit the airport SBUX. Why should a Grande Cafe Mocha make flying easier? Not sure, but it does.

Can’t wait to find out how you did in foodie paradise!

considering where your house is… definitely not a bad idea to have someone house-sit. i’m not so concerned about my townhouse, b/c my neighbors would probably notice anything weird or suspicious!

did you actually only eat those snacks you packed? i have the best of intentions on my road and plane trips, and then i end up getting snacks at a gas station or airport or on the plane! how can i not eat the free Delta biscoff cookies?!? but then i have a calorie-free drink and it balances out. right?

I ate most of the snacks, so I was glad I brought them. I also picked up another 2 oranges while I was there. But, I did eat the free crackers Southwest gave us on the way home ;)
