Weigh In Week 16

by Liz, a priorfatgirl on April 25, 2012

For those of you who didn’t read my other blog, Wednesday’s are my Weight Watchers weigh in day.  Every Wednesday I will post my progress (the good and the bad).  This has been a critical step for me because it ensures that I go to meetings and it keeps me on track publicly.  You can read about my last weigh in on my other blog here.  There was a lot going into this week and all I really wanted to see today was a loss of any size.  Not only was there surgery and stuff to contend with but there was also some womanly issues at play.  I am proud to say that I tracked everyday and worked out 6 times this week!  This was more than usual and thanks to some extra help I had last week while Mr. Goat was recovering from surgery.  I am so grateful for this because I did meet my goal and had a loss this week.

-1.6 Pounds

-41.6 lbs Lost to Date

I am pleased with this number because I stuck with it after a big loss last week, I am STILL under 300 pounds, and I didn’t eat my stress.  One thing that has been helpful to me is trying to visualize my process.  For me it is hard to see the progress each week because sometimes the numbers don’t translate into immediate body changes, so I frequently will create a graphic to model how much weight I have lost for me.  Here is this week’s visual: 8 5lb bags of sugar and 6 sticks of butter.

Eew.  I am glad that this is off of my body.  I was trying to find a good picture of a 35 lb cat litter box too – I had to carry one down the stairs this week and that sucker is HEAVY.  And I’ve lost more than thatI am on track to keep going.  I have had really great success over 16 weeks.  In about 4 months I’ve lost over 40 pounds, which means I am on track to lose over a 100 lbs this year.  That would be HUGE.  It isn’t the end goal but I will be so much better off when I get to 100 lbs down.  In the mean time I keep plugging away.

Also, since this is my first weigh in post on PriorFatGirl I thought I’d show you the graph of my weight loss so far.  Whenever I am feeling blue because it doesn’t seem fast enough I look back on this and see just how far I’ve come – even with a few gains in there.

Since this is my first weigh in here I am curious what you’d like to know about my progress each week – inches lost? daily and weekly points totals? specific workouts?  Let me know what will be helpful to know.  And as always you can find me on twitter or email me at liz@priorfatgirl.com

I’d love to know more about what you eat. I can work out but I fail with food on a constant basis! What does breakfast, lunch and dinner look like? I’d love to do WW points but I can’t afford the membership.. so any thing I can find is always great!

Hey Gina, try counting calories using My Fitness Pal or Sparkpeople. They are free websites and you can get their free apps for your smart phone to help you. I count points AND calories just in case I ever have to cancel my WW membership due to financial reasons, that way I can still keep up my efforts with calories.

That graph is fantastic! Since it’s green, I immediately saw it as a hill. My first thought was, “Phew! I’m glad I don’t have to run up that!” You’ve created a pretty steep hill. Good for you!!!!

Congrats on the awesome loss!! I just signed up for WW Online last week and I need to get back on track. I would love to see what you eat per day and points would be cool as well.

What do you do for exercise?
Way to go on the 40 lbs!

The butter analogy always worked so well for me, and when I use it with other people they’re just floored when they look at a seemingly small weight loss that way. I’ve lost 544 sticks of butter and within five pound fluctuations, kept it off for 6 years. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Oh I love the bags of sugar and butter analogy!!! I truly do! So far I have lost 15 bags of sugar off this body of mine. Congrats on the weight loss Liz! Keep up the great work girl!!

I would LOVE to know what you used for that graph?

Sadly it is done for me on my Weight Watcher etools. I just did a screen shot and cropped it. Which isn’t that helpful. I bet there are programs out there that could do something similar though!

Hey Liz, congrats on your weigh-in! What was your starting weight? I started in January as well and am down 33.6 lbs. What is your weekly routine like in terms of food and fitness?

Congratulations! I love the visual confirmation with the sugar and butter. When I was on WW and would only have 1 lb loss, I’d look at 1lb package of ground beef to remind myself how 1 little pound really is!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

YAH LIZ! I knew you could do it! I am so impressed with your determination even with all of the things going on. I just know that this is going to be a permanent change for you and couldn’t be happier for you. You are a rock star! 16 weeks is such a huge milestone at WW – PROUD OF YOU! Keep it up!
