Despite everything you’ve been told, do you ever wear your post-workout look as a badge of honor? Do you ever let yourself be seen after working out because you’re proud of yourself?
This morning, I woke up at 4:50am to meet a friend for a run. It was raining. So we decided not to go running. I put on a DVD and after 8 minutes, realized it had stopped raining. I really wanted to go running so I stopped the DVD and grabbed a headband. About 5 minutes into my run, it started to sprinkle. Soon, the sprinkles turned into rain drops. It wasn’t down-pouring but it wasn’t sprinkling. Determined to run, I wiped my nose off and kept going. 3 miles of running in the rain. And by the time I finished, the rain drops were the heaviest they had been and I was drenched. Despite my initial reaction of jumping into the shower to clean up, I grabbed my camera and took a picture.
A picture to capture a moment in time when I have defied what I could have excused myself out of doing. A picture to capture a moment in time when I pushed myself beyond average. A picture to capture a moment in time when I felt strong. A picture to capture a moment in time when I am proud of myself.
I am proud of myself.
I am proud of myself.
I am proud of myself.
I am not alone — below are my friends who took a picture to capture
a moment in time when they too, were proud of themselves.

Good for you! I ran in the rain once, it’s not so bad right! The headband looks super cute on you!
I fiddled with it enough to figure out how to not feel like a dork wearing it! I really truly apprecaite you gifting it to me
I’m proud of you, too! All that running and training for long races will do crazy things to you.
Way to go!
Great job!! Running in the rain is the best feeling.
Running in the rain is SO awesome, I’m glad you’ve gotten to experience it. Now, every time it rains you’ll want to head out.
Fantastic! Good for you, Jen! I’m proud of you. I like to think my comment on Tuesday’s “Tomatoes” post helped give you the nudge you needed to try running in the rain.
Nothing beats that feeling of dedication and discipline you get while running through the rain and drivers pass by you in their cars, giving you that look that says, “that person is NUTS.”
Also, as you probably noticed, there are far fewer other runners crowding the running trails.
Woot! So proud of you Jen! I am just about to go out in the rain to get to the gym for my lunch workout – I’ll take a picture!
Running in the rain is great!! That’s is a great picture of you! Next time you go out grab a hat, keeps the rain off your face.
Good for you Jen and to all the other ladies!! I also forced myself to run in the rain last Sunday and it was awesome!
Ah yes, have done that. Especially through the fall/winter. After a cold, miserable run nothing feels better than sitting down in a local coffee shop, enjoying a hot drink and siaplying your badge of honor!
i did the same thing this summer…june 5 to be exact. I was signed up for a 5k race and it was raining…actually storming. We ran the race…when I started it was downpouring and i told myself…just do it. I was proud at what I accomplished as it was only my 2nd race and I dropped time. A lot of people thought we were crazy but I feel it made me be a stronger person! Now I will go out and run in the rain.
I would have used the rain as an excuse to skip the run. I did take a bus and a train to the gym last week in the pouring rain when I didn’t even want to leave the house, does that count?
I’m so proud of you too! Great job. I’ll have to take another sweaty picture after my next 99+ minute cardio session. You inspire me to keep pushing and moving forward in this healthiness journey. Thank you!
Jen! Congratulations on being proud of yourself!
Reading your post earlier today gave me the oomph to go out and do my run today. It started raining while I was running. I thought of you running in te rain and it pushed me to finish and finish strong.
I can now say I am proud of myself too!
thanks for including me
I do notnotnotnot ever like the cardio and it’s a daily choice to get it done.
Woohoo! You rock for finishing 3 miles in the rain! I’ve been trying to make the outdoors my friend more often…but I am just too picky about the weather. You’ve given me the inspiration to brave the elements the next time its just a bit icky out there.
