Giggles and Laughs.

My favorite part of today is knowing that I still have Monday and Tuesday off from work. And, reflecting on the past couple of days reminds me of how blessed I am to be surrounded by so many amazing people who not only support my healthiness journey but support me in life!

My sisters Alicia & Melinda (along with their families), my dad and my Aunt Gaye & Uncle Kieth came over for dinner on Friday night. Aunt Gaye & Uncle Keith were in town for the weekend and since they had yet to see our new house, I offered a impromptu get spaghetti dinner.

It was a full house — I love a full house, especially when there are adorable little kids to liven up the atmosphere! We played some Wii after dinner including some bowling.

Yes. That is me in the winners spot!

While showing my Aunt Gaye around our house, I took her out back to the garden. I have planted nothing myself but there have been a couple of things that have come back from last year. Included in that was one plant that I had no clue what it was.

It looked like something but I had no clue what. So although I have pulled a lot of the weeds, I’ve left this alone. Luckily, Aunt Gaye is a master Gardner and pointed closely at what was growing!

Brocoli!

I totally would have missed that had she not pointed it out.

Saturday morning, I was so excited about the find in my garden that I sent Carlos out to pick them! They were immediately sauteed and found themselves nestled in an omelet.

The best way to eat broccoli: sauteed with onions and ham, covered in some Laughing Cow cheese and carefully wrapped in a fluffy egg.

After breakfast, I had a couple of meltdowns and decided to write a blog post. It helped…writing always does. I was able to take a couple of deep breaths and get dressed for the day. Carlos and I headed to North East Minneapolis to stop at a store he has been talking about. Actually, quick story…the other day, Carlos sent me a txt saying that he got me a surprise and couldn’t wait for me to see it. I came home and found this:

A popcorn bag.

I like popcorn so I opened it up and looked in…

NOT POPCORN!

Carlos was so excited because he had heard me talk (and laugh) about this when MizFitOnline first introduced me to GoGirl back in February. And every time MizFit talked about GoGirl, I giggled like a little school girl!

Now, here I was holding one!

I now am the proud owner of a one.time.use.only GoGirl! And, I'll save it forever because it was a gift.

Anyways, Carlos has been raving about the store he got it from. It’s a store called “I Like You.” As I’m writing this, it dawned on me that this was probably a perfect stop in my day because it added some extra sunshine to my day. My mom would have loved this store!

I Like You...makes me smile!

After we wandered around a bit, we headed over to my dads. Bittersweet. I anticipated it to be a hard get together. Very emotional. I was hesitant yet ironically, the time together turned out to be  just the way mom would have wanted it…..full of smiles and laughs.

Colton and I.

Kayla and I.

Surrounding myself with giggles and laughs.

Sharing the giggles and laughs with dad.

Excuse me while I LEGO my mind away.

Sheepish smile - caught playing w/ LEGOs

Be jealous of my LEGO abilities!

This morning, I woke up and did my Temple Training & Fitness bootcamp. What an amazing way to spend a Sunday morning…burning 460 calories in 60 minutes surrounded by the outdoors & friends! I’m pretty sure it is the reason why I was flowing with positivity this morning…well, I’m sure the latte from the Minneapolis Farmers Market helped too! Stopping at the farmers market was my treat to myself for making it through the bootcamp. Seriously — it was a perfect way to spend my Sunday morning!

I’ve caught up on some blogging, recapped my eating for the past two days and am now going to get ready for some guests & grilling tonight. Burgers and corn on the cob…what a perfect summer dinner menu!

Thank you all for your beautiful emails, tweets, facebook messages and comments with your support. Although it was a HARD weekend, I have officially made it through and came out smiling.

Happy to hear your weekend was full of fun and laughter. The first year was the hardest for me! The Go Girl is hysterical. Never heard of such a thing!
