List of weekend goals.

I assume most of you will agree, this weekend could not come fast enough! It is a holiday weekend, here in the U.S., the Fourth of July.

Weekend Plans

Tonight will be low-key. I plan on convincing Carlos to catch up on watching some Hulu (Modern Family, anyone?) Tomorrow, we are going up to the lake. A couple years ago, my parents purchased some land about 50 minutes away, right on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. They were considering building and retiring there but never started building. They did however, clear the land and so every once in awhile,  we all pack up and just get away. The good thing about it, is that it is close enough to make it a day trip.

Sunday and Monday will be relaxing days around here. Time to catch up, zone out and do whatever we fancy. As non-commital as that sounds, I’m pretty sure our days will get filled quickly–they always to! I’m a list gal-I like to check things off, cross them out and visually see I’ve accomplished something. But, here are my goals for this weekend:

  • Workout Sunday & Monday.
  • Watch at least one movie.
  • Read at least one magazine.
  • Clean upstairs & downstairs bathroom, vacuum.
  • Meet at least one friend for breakfast, lunch or coffee.
  • Send bracelets.
  • Take Iggy to doggy park.
  • Play a game with Carlos.

Okay, I’m already getting overwhelmed with that list, even though 75% of it is considered “rest & relaxation” activities.

Reflecting on the week

I am pretty happy with the way this week has played out. I got 4 workouts in so far and will hit the gym today at work, since it will be so utterly dead. Eating has also been very consciously done. I have stayed within a 1400-1800 calorie range and tracked it through today so far. Now comes the tricky part, to continue this through the weekend. I’m bringing my journal with me wherever I go (including up to the lake) and am making a public plea for my family to hold me accountable!

Short post, I know–but sometimes, it just is what it is. I’m ready to get this PARTY STARTED, get the work hours over with and move on with my weekend :)

    jen: i have a question. you’ve lost a ton of weight and you’ve generally maintained your weight loss (which is awesome). do you think that you’ll ever be able to stop thinking about exercise/calories/gaining weight? or do you think this will be a lifelong obsession? i’m wondering if your obsession (and I use that term for lack of a better word, not to insult you) inhibits ultimate happiness. what do you think?

      I often wonder this myself, Samantha. Part of me thinks that…in order for me to forever maintain, I will always have to think about exercising & being conscious of what I eat. I’ve proven to myself over and over again that the moment I stop being actively and aggressively aware of my actions, I gain weight. That said, I do think there is a happy medium out there—and I just need to find it. I’ve mentioned it multiple times in conversations with my therapist, that my goal is just to figure out how to be healthy for life and to get out of this whole “weight loss” mentality. That mentality was needed for me when I was losing weight–but I’m not now. And so I need to figure out how to all my thinking to get to the next level.

      GREAT QUESTIONS! Wish I had an easy answer, but I will keep fighting for the answer :)

  13. I got my bracelet! It came yesterday, which I took to be a positive sign considering how much truth I admitted to myself about my relationship with food. I’m wearing mine today and even blogged about it. Hope your weekend was great!!
