A weigh in, an evaluation, oh my!

by Lindsay, another priorfatgirl on March 5, 2010

Hola! Happy FRIDAY! Let’s skip the chit chat and get to the good stuff, shall we? :)

Weigh In
I’m down a bit from last week. This morning I weighed in at 217.4. Last week, I didn’t post on Friday, so you didn’t know that I was up. Last week I was 218.2. So this week I’m down 0.8. Eh. Nothing too special, but it’s a loss! Plus, the week before TOM, so it could have been much worse, which, let’s face it, it usually is for me. Damn TOM. Total weight loss is still halted at -8.2 pounds. I’ll get there…

Evaluation
As I mentioned yesterday, I had my first evaluation with my trainer last night. I’ve been working with her for a month (actually a little bit more, but I forgot to schedule an eval at the one month mark) so it was time for some measurements and such to track my progress from the last month.
I had told you guys how scared I was to go. I’m up 3 pounds from my baseline measurements/weigh in from January… so I was REALLY nervous. The first thing I said to Kari (the trainer who did my eval) was “I’m up 3 pounds, does that mean it’s all down hill from here…?” She, of course, told me no. But I was skeptical.

First, Body Fat… pretty much the same. Went down 0.6%. Woo hoo…. The skepticism grows.

Neck: no change. Oh well, I don’t think I have a fat neck anyways. Haha!
Next Up… Chest: Down -2.5 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woah! Bye bye boobies!
Shoulders: Down 4 inches.. FOUR FRICKEN INCHES!
Waist: Down 2 inches! Yesssssss! Getting closer to a healthy measurement. Bye bye heart disease!
Hips: Down 1/2 inch! Yay!
Bicep, both left and right: up 1/2 inch. First gain… urg.
Thigh, both left and right: up 1/2 inch. Boo.
Calf, both left and right: no change

Plus, my bpm (beats per minute) is down – my heart isn’t having to work so hard – a good thing. :) And my flexibility has improved. Not much, but it’s an improvement! :)

So, for total inches lost, Kari put “-9.5″ – first of all, the math isn’t correct on that. It would be -9. BUT, Kari didn’t factor in the 2 inches I gained in my biceps and thighs. I guess technically I did lose 9 inches BUT I gained 2 back in other areas. So what do I say, that I lost 7 inches or 9 inches…? I’m not sure. Haha Either way, I lost some inches!

I AM so proud of myself. Seeing those losses makes me want to get back into the gym and work harder to see great numbers next month.

Kari explained the reason for the gains in my biceps and thighs is probably because I am gaining muscle faster than I am losing the fat surrounding the muscle and she just says I need to stick with it and those numbers will change too. I trust her and I’m going to keep busting my a$$ because THIS is a great feeling. :)

I hope you guys have a wonderful Friday!

Let me know what you think about my “inches lost” predicament.
