Poor Little Bunnies

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on February 26, 2010

What’s up blog stalkers?! HAHA, no worries – chances are I stalk your blog just as much :) I’m still not 100% but haven’t gotten worse. It’s all in my throat right now. I came home last night and did 30 Day Shred, level 2 and by the end, my lungs were on fire – they hurt so much! I’m trying to just hang on through the next crazy week and then am thinking I can slow down. Ah…if only life would slow down, right?
Oatmeal Fanatic
I am realizing I really do go in spurts. I went for about a month and ate more eggs than a farm could produce. Now I’m back at the oats. But as I mentioned before (or maybe on Twitter), I’m having a field day with old-fashioned oatmeal. Wanna know the difference between old-fashioned oatmeal and instant? There really is no time difference at all. Old-fashioned oatmeal is big – like whole oats. The instant is little flakes of oatmeal (which is why it’s suppose to cook faster.)
The other day I decided I was going to make
my own apple cinnamon oatmeal.
I first cut up the apples, added a little bit of water, sprinkled
with a little cinnamon and put it in the microwave for 3 minutes.
YUM! Look at them chunks! No way
instant will ever be that chunkified.

Next up, I used some pecan pieces & dried cranberry’s.

OMG, I really love this! It is so yummy!

Like really good.

As in… lemme lick the bowl clean good.

Finally, I tried another goodie. A smashed up banana.

Added some oatmeal & pecan pieces.

A little brown sugar & splenda.

HOLY YUMNESS, I can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow!

The best part? A cup of old-fashioned oatmeal is about 150 calories
but ends up cooking a much bigger bowl than a packet of instant
oatmeal. So I get more oats for a little more calories. Most of my
toppings are around 50-75 calories (except the banana one) and
my concoctions keep me full all morning!

Yesterday afternoon, I was so snacky. I hit the candy bowl a
couple times too many so decided to make some oatmeal.
And…cuz I was in a creative mood I decided to throw some
Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruits in my oatmeal!
I was pretty sure I was genius!

Until I added the hot water and slowly sadly
watched the little bunnies melt. After about 2
minutes the little bunnies were no more.
POOR BUNNIES!

Post Workout Glow

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on February 25, 2010

Me again. 2 times in a day, 2 days in a row! Still not feeling well but had to stop by and give you one final chance to enter and win all the awesome prizes from Exercise TV. CLICK HERE FOR YOUR CHANCE.

And, I have some pictures for you. You know the feeling of going into the gym and thinking everyone is looking at you? Being embarrassed because you don’t have a matching outfit. Or your hair isn’t cute (ooohhh, I know you worry about your hair Tony!) Or you just threw on some comfy clothes?

Or your sweaty.

Most people hate sweating.

But lets stop and think about this. Sweat is the
body’s natural way of cooling itself off.

So lemme just ask…why are we embarressed about
our body doing something so natural? Here are some
beautiful ladies who are proud of their workout,
proud of their post-workout glow.

One day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time… that’s what I keep telling myself. Man, this healthy stuff can be quite the challenge! Here’s the thing… I know I’m worth it, I know I deserve it – but my goodness it can be tough making the right choices!

I know I’m not alone in this. If I were – everyone would be thin and healthy, except me. And well, that’s not the case. We know the choices we should be making. We know we should be grooovin’ our “thang” in the gym. Sometimes those little decisions can be so tough. I’m still waiting for all of this to become “second nature” to me. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. I’m pretty sure there will always be struggles… but sometimes the hardest things in life are the most worth it.

Tonight, Adam and I are headed over to Jen and Carlos’ place for a last minute “double date”. Originally, Jen and I had plans to get together, but we decided the guys could be invited too. ;) I know, we’re so kind. Haha!

Things lately have been pretty same ‘ol. I’m trying not to focus so much on the number on the scale, I need to come to the realization that it’s much more than that. But it’s hard. That little (or not so little) number such can be a PITA (aka Pain In The Arse) sometimes…. most of the time lately, for me.

I just need to re-focus. I want the motivation I had when I started at this back. That would be nice, maybe I would continue making progress…

But like I said before, I’m just taking things one day at a time – that’s all we really can do. I’m sticking with it… but I am not having fun! Haha! I hope you are all having a fabulous day! xoxo!
