Hi guys! I’m having a GREAT day. I’m feeling pretty accomplished.
Last night I went to the gym and did Week 1, Day 1 of the Couch-to-5k program. This was my very first “run”. Well, more like 1.5 – since the day I met Jen at the gym with her trainer, I did about half of the first run before I met up with her.
MAN! Did it feel good! The first week is just running for 60 seconds and then recovering for 90 seconds. I’m sure it will get progressively harder.
I’m headed back on Thursday to do Week 1, Day 1, Run 2. I’m GOING TO run a 5k this year. Mark my words.
Habit Changer
Yesterday and today, we have focused on portion control. It’s so hard for so many of us. I don’t know about you guys, but I love food. Obviously, that’s how I got to where I am today. It’s just so delicious! Since starting the Habit Changer program, I am making a conscious effort to abide by the “rules” they’re teaching me. Today, there was free Chipotle at work. I am working my “late night” (11am-8pm) and I thought, “Hmmm… Chipotle sounds better than my frozen lunch that I had brought… I’ll have some… whatever”. So I went and grabbed a Veggie burrito. REMOVED the tortilla – no need for that, that’s not the reason I love Chipotle. AND…. I only ate about half (maybe!) of the inside. I started getting full, so right away, I just wrapped it up and threw it in the trash. YES! I feel like this is a huge accomplishment for me. It is CHIPOTLE, after all. One of my GREATEST weaknesses. I’m so proud of myself.
Also, I know I’m not “supposed” to… but I snuck on the scale today. Looks like this weeks weigh in just may be a good one! Now let’s just hope I don’t jinx it!
Speaking of the scale – is anyone else out there OBSESSED with it like I am…? I mean seriously, I step on that darn thing nearly every time I use the restroom! I know, I know – it’s a little OCD – but to my defense… I really believe I have learned not to pay too much attention to the number unless it’s on my actual weigh in day. I use it more as a way to…. keep track (?) of how I’m doing throughout the week. Anyone else like me…?
I know many of you had mentioned finding other ways to track my progress in addition to the scale… I did take measurements about a week ago… but it’s really difficult to do that on your own… so I may have Sheena assist me on getting correct measurements… I haven’t asked her yet… but she reads my blog… so Sheen-bean… what do you say???
What are BFF’s for!? C’mon, help a sister out. Oh, but of course, no pressure…… haha!
And yes, like everyone else I also gauge my success on how my clothes are fitting. And I think you are all so right… we have to look at something other than the scale sometimes, because let’s face it, sometimes the scale is a real PITA (aka pain in the.. well, you know!)!!!
