I need a weekend “replay”!

by Lindsay, another priorfatgirl on December 7, 2009

Hi all! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was FAB-U-LOUS!

On Friday, a few friends/sorority sisters and I met up and had a Holiday Dinner. It was lots of fun – with LOTS of good food. I was pretty good food wise. I had some turkey, a little bit of mashed potatoes and a little bit of stuffing and some salad. I DID have dessert (c’mon, you all know I did. I can’t resist! Haha) I didn’t go out of control though. I had a piece of my friend Sheena’s “sky high mud pie” – delish! It’s basically a Oreo cookie crust and the inside is a coffee flavored ice cream… so good. Not so good for you, but soooooo good. ;) It was nice catching up with some of my friends that I haven’t seen for a while. One couple drove a couple of hours to come up for the dinner, so that was nice and it was nice to see them since I don’t get to very often. Plus, Jen was my wine drinking partner, we polished off a bottle…. okay… let’s be seriously, more like I polished off a bottle. Jen helped, a bit, but I pretty much demolished that puppy. ;) Good thing I wasn’t driving.
Speaking of puppies… Meet Dexter!

Isn’t he the cutest!? Dexter is our (mine and Adam’s) new puppy! We picked him up on Saturday. :) We found a little farm a few miles from where we live that had “mini-boxers” and I wanted to “look at them”. I really like Boxers, but our house/yard isn’t big enough for a big dog. So, I thought, hmm… mini-boxer, that would work… So we contacted the woman and she set up an appointment with us. And, needless to say, we came home with Dexter. :) Now, I wouldn’t necessarily call him a “mini-boxer” – he’s a mutt. He’s a mix of jack russell terrier/pug/boxer – just an adorable little mutt. I couldn’t say no once I met him. He’s about 4 and a half months old and right now weights about 9 pounds. The woman told us he wouldn’t get too much bigger, maybe an inch taller and end up weighing somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds. I just love him. But wow, little puppies sure are a handful! We’ve had a couple of accidents, but I suppose that’s to be expected.

Are there any puppy mommies/daddies out there that have any advice for first time puppy owners?

Growing up, we always had dogs, but of course, I was too young to help really train them or anything… that was up to my parents, so I’m kind of new to this whole puppy thing. But I’m excited. I know we will be enrolling him in “puppy classes” at our local put supply store. He needs it and we need it just as much. We don’t even know where to begin when it comes to training and teaching a puppy things. Needless to say, I have been reading A LOT of information on the Internet lately, and actually, I’ve come across a lot of helpful stuff. But, puppy classes are still in order. :)

Saturday night was my PartyLite Party that I hosted for Jen. We had so much fun. It was a nice getting a bunch of people together and just hang out and buy some pretty cool candles. :) I got a lot of great deals for being a hostess. Cannot complain about that! Thanks Jen!!

Sunday was pretty much a lazy day/night. We didn’t do much other than love up on Dexter, make a Target run and watch a little Dexter on DVD (yeah, ya know… the show about the serial killer… I promise though, our little pup Dexter is nothing even close to a killer! Haha)

And now, back to the daily grind. Everyday, working hard to continue on with this little healthiness journey while living LIFE. Life isn’t all about losing weight, I try to remember that and not consume myself with it. Yes, I need it to keep me healthy and living a long, healthy life… but I like to enjoy myself as well. Enjoying yourself (in moderation, of course) and learning to live a healthy life CAN go hand in hand. Just remember, everything in moderation. :) (We’ve all heard that one before!)

Now, I’m off to make today a good day – I hope you are as well! Have a happy Monday!

xoxo
Lindsay
