Finding my spark

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on December 15, 2009

Happy Tuesday! Friday is so close, I can almost taste it! Thanks again for all the well wishes. I slept most of yesterday morning and jumped on-line around noon to log into work. So glad I have a work laptop.

Last night, I had enough energy and was feeling better (again?) and went to the gym. I ran for 20 minutes and then saw Kevin, my trainer who proceeded to rip my legs to shreds. Ah, why oh why do I pay him?! Oh yeah, cause he pushes me beyond what I would do by myself and as a result, I can now see muscle definition! I know some of you can’t afford a trainer – heck, I can’t afford a trainer. But I do it anyways. Because without one, I wouldn’t step foot in the weights section. And I am 100000% confident weights was key to my weight loss.

Cardio burns calories while your working out.
Weights burn calories while your working
out
AND up to 24 hours AFTER your workout.

So if your one who is insistent that you cannot afford a trainer, that is NO EXCUSE to not do weights. Get your butt into the testosterone zone and grab some weights!

Re-igniting My Spark ‘Member back here when I mentioned I finally got on the cool bus and joined Sparkpeople? I really was so excited because I hear so many good things about the site and all the features.

And, because I’m a firm believer in tracking what you eat in at the initial stages of a healthiness journey (because how else are you going to understand what your eating and the effects they have on your body?) Anyways, back to Sparkpeople. I really was excited to use all the features it had but I gotta admit, I very quickly lost my own spark in recording everything. In fact, I’m quite sure I only did it 3 or 4 days a week for the first 2 weeks. And, since then, I haven’t logged in AT ALL!

Bleck! That’s a very poor record. But I really need to keep track of what I’m eating because I have a feeling I am eating way more then I should be right now so I’m going back to good…

…paper and pencil!

It really was the one thing that worked back when I started so back to the basics I go! There. I admitted it. I was so insistent that I was gonna do this whole Sparkpeople thingie and as soon as I hit publish, the whole idea went out the window. Now that I’m ready to admit it and move on, I’m feeling confident and am excited to get out my trusty calorie journal!

Do you count your calories? Or do you do WW Points? For those who have counted calories, at what point do you stop and just trust yourself?
