Feeling Icky

by Lindsay, another priorfatgirl on December 17, 2009

Good morning! Happy Thursday. This week, I CAN. NOT. WAIT. for Friday. I am exhausted. I have been in bed before 10pm like, 3 days this week. I’m getting sick. I can feel it. My throat is all scratchy and… blah. Luckily, since I got my tonsils taken out last year, I have not had one case of strep throat, which I used to get ALL THE TIME, so I’m hoping it won’t progress further than just a sore throat and will be better in a few days. I’m hoping!

I feel like such a blogger slacker lately with no pictures! I know it’s not all about the pictures, but I know when I read other people’s blogs, I like to see pictures every now and then. I’m slacking in the photo department, but I’ll work on it, I swear friends, I swear. There are even things I’d like to show you! I just never think to take a picture… duhh.. I’ll work on it. :)

So, like I had mentioned yesterday, Dexter had his first ever puppy class! This initial class was mostly talking. What to expect from class, what we’ll be learning/teaching out dogs, yada, yada, yada. There are only 2 other dogs in class. 2 BIG DOGS. One was a 6 month old German Shepard (aka BIG) and the other was a year old lab mix (aka also BIG). Dex was the little guy. At first, he was hesitant and not so sure about the big dogs, but in no time, he was walking up to them, sniffing them, licking them. It was pretty cute. He just wasn’t a fan of their big barks. :)

Last night, all we worked on was getting them acquainted with their “clickers” – it’s this little device that makes a clicking noise that you use as a training tool. In theory, you click the clicker and tell the dog the command, they do it, and you reward them with a treat. Eventually, you wean them off of the clicker once they know the commands. Apparently, they learn up to 50% faster with the clicker, so we’re willing to give it a shot! Last night, all we did with Dex was get him used to the click. We’d click the clicker and then give him a treat. It only took a couple of clicks and then he knew and expected a treat. We also taught him to “watch me”. You have to have your dogs full attention before you can teach them a command. So, we would use our hand signal, say the command, “watch me”, if they watch you, click the clicker and give them a treat. Dex was only ok at this. We got him to watch us a couple of times, which, actually impressed me since he has like, nothing for attention span… so I was pleased. We, of course, have homework this week. We need to practice his commands everyday until next class. We can do that.. easy peasy. :) Wish us (and Dexter) luck!! :)

Now… let’s talk about ME! Haha! Yesterday’s calories were pretty good. A little more than I would have liked to eat, but not as many as maintain weight calories… so that’s good. It really is hard getting back into a habit once you break it. I figured out how many calories I should have by going HERE. It’s a great site to kind of get an idea of how many cals you should be eating a day. I leave my end date open – I’m in no “rush” to get the weight off. I want to be doing something I can maintain AFTER I’ve lost the weight. Sure, fast would be fantastic, but not realistic.

Today, going good so far. Yes, I realize it’s only 9:15am – but hey! Gotta start somewhere! I have tracked all of my calories this morning so far. I am planning on sticking near 1,300-1,400 calories today. And getting in at least 75 ounces of water in. I’ll let you know tomorrow, how I did today. :)

I hope you all have an amazing day. Thanks for reading. I still can’t believe people actually care what I have to say. Haha!

xoxo
Lindsay
