Anyone wanna read a book with me?

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on December 4, 2009

wow, if you haven’t already, please stop and read all of the comments on the posts from the past two days. Some of you just confirmed that what I’m going through is unfortunately common among a lot of us but others had some really great advice & opinions! LOVE IT.

Anyways, it seems like there are a lot of you who, like me, still struggle with the mental aspect of this whole weight/food issue. Yesterday w/ food was no different then the prior day except I didn’t stop to take pictures. Whether you are overweight or not, seems most of us are in the same place: still struggling.

Over the past couple of months, I have heard a lot about the Complete Beck Diet for Life book.

It’s so much of a diet but more of a way of life. Many of you recommended it back in September when I talked a couple of times about my emotional eating. I even went as far as getting on the waiting list at the library for it back in October…still waiting.

After the past couple of days, I have still continued to struggle with my eating. So I was thinking…

would some of you want to read this book with me? Not really over my shoulder but maybe we could read it at the same time and then over the next couple of months we could talk about it? Kind of like an on-line book club?

Don’t have a lot of money? Good thing Amazon.com has an option to buy used!

As of the time I’m writing this post, you can get your very own copy of the book for $5 (+shipping & handling.) CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO AMAZON

From the Beck Solution website:

This time you will learn Cognitive Therapy skills to help you when you’re feeling disappointed, discouraged, deprived, and unmotivated. If you have never learned Cognitive Therapy skills to address these problems, no wonder you haven’t been successful in the past. But here’s your chance to learn how to be a successful dieter – for life.

By following the Cognitive Therapy techniques dieters learn to:

  • think differently and overcome common dieting pitfalls and sabotaging thoughts
  • eat favorite foods while steadily losing weight
  • feel in control in the most challenging situations
  • feel confident in their ability to follow a healthy diet and exercise plan
  • remain motivated to maintain weight loss for life

Does anyone want to do this with me? If so, get the book and lemme know you did. Maybe the middle of January we can figure out a forum or something to talk about it and discuss the book. (ok, can you tell I’m really missing school?!)

I bought my book last night!

Weekend Plans:
I have such a busy weekend planned! I know I haven’t told you yet but I got a second job!!! To be honest, school loans start in January and a little extra money can only help. As I was thinking about what kind of second job I wanted, one thing continued to stick in the back of my mind.

I remember a dear friend who gave people a reason to invite a bunch of friends to their house for a get together. Wanna know what my second job is? A PartyLite Consultant!

I’m totally stoked because it’s something fun to do and gives people a reason to get together! I’ve been reminded over the past couple of months that life is too short to wait for a reason to get together for friends and so having a candle party is a perfect “excuse” to crack a bottle of wine and laugh! (No worries, I won’t make ya’ll buy candles, but lemme know if you wanna have a party! And, please to note that I will not beg you dear readers to host a party, this will probably be the only mention of it on the blog unless I casually mention I have a show to host.)

So my weekend plans? I have 2 shows and then some serious R-E-L-A-X-A-T-I-O-N!

Of course, my goal will to get to the gym both Saturday and Sunday. Do you work out out on the weekends or do you take them off?
