Whatever Works For You

by Lindsay, another priorfatgirl on November 20, 2009

First things first, thank you, so much for your kind words on my Rissa post. She truly was a beautiful individual, obviously on the outside, but even more so on the inside. From being a volunteer for Campus Kitchen, an organization that supplies food to less-than-lucky families around Mankato to being an advocate for the Sexual Violence Resource Center, helping women through horrible times of rape and sexual assault, she truly, truly gave all that she could. She really was an inspiration to so many people. She’s so very missed.

Now, moving on to what this blog is all about: weight loss! :)

I’ve been thinking lately, I had mentioned to you guys that I was discouraged about going to the gym… basically because the trainer told me what I was doing was wrong. That totally set me back, I started second guessing myself and pretty much dreaded going to the gym. Then, I had a realization: I’m doing what works for ME, right now. Yes, I’m sure there are better ways of doing things, of course there are, there always will be. But here’s how I see it. As long as I’m AT the gym, doing what I can and what I know how to do… can’t that be enough? At least I’m there! At least I’m trying and pushing myself. And yes, I’m sure if I paid someone a couple hundred bucks, they’d tell me a better way to do it, but I can’t… so right now, this is how it’s going to be. Just GETTING to the gym is an accomplishment some days. So ya know what – for now, THIS is the way things are going to be and I will be darn proud because at least I’m doing SOMETHING. It’s better than sitting my butt on the couch eating chocolate flippin’ through channels! Hmph… so there! :)

Sorry, mini-rant, but really. At least I’m going to the gym.

I think I’ve just come to realize you have to do what works for you. Yes, there will ALWAYS be better ways of doing things, but be proud that you are doing SOMETHING! I have talked to many wonderful bloggers, many on different plans than me. Now, I may not follow their plan, but I sure as heck can appreciate them and the hard work their doing for their healthiness. I’ll never try to tell someone they should switch what they’re doing to what I’m doing, because I’m not them and I don’t know squat about what works for them. So celebrate, you beautiful bloggers, for doing SOMETHING. Whatever it is that you’re doing (so long as it’s healthy, not harmful), be proud that you are taking a step in the right direction and if someone tells you your “step” isn’t big enough or you’re not stepping right – just remember, you are doing what works for you and THAT is an accomplishment.

On that note, I’m out of here. Thanks for reading, I hope you all have a fabulous day!

xoxo
Lindsay
