Hi guys! Happy Wednesday! I hope you have been having a fabulous week. Sorry my posts are kind of ramble-y and weird lately. I’m still trying to adjust to all the new changes in my life.
Finding Balance
Speaking of life changes, I’m been having some hard time lately keeping afloat. I mean, I’m not doing HORRIBLE. But I just haven’t been tracking as well, haven’t been working out as much, I’ve gained two weeks in a row (one of which was expected since I always gain) – but I think I just have loosened up my grasp a little bit, I don’t like it and I need to get back to where I was before. Diligent with my counting, more than anything. THAT really helped me out so much when I started counting my calories. I need to get back on it and be strict on myself. When you leave room for error, you screw up. Of course, being human, there is ALWAYS room for error, but tracking and counting my calories minimize that window of error. So, I need to get back to it… like before. It’s not like it’s hard or anything, it takes a few seconds right before you put something in your mouth. I can do it.
New Job=Weight Loss…?
Well, I sure HOPE that’s the theory!!!! There are a few reasons I think I may lose weight from starting this new job:
1) Not being stuck at a desk as a receptionist = movement, walking, etc.
2) Bigger building = MORE movement, walking, etc.
3) Taking the bus = MUCH more movement, walking, etc. walking to and from my bus stops
4) Sky ways = LOTS of walking over my lunch break if I want, for free, NOT out in the blistery, miserable, COLD, FREEZING Minnesota winter.
5) “Running” 10 flights of stairs, twice a week = HOLY MOVEMENT!!!
So, yes, today, I was invited by one of my trainers to join him and a small group of people to “run the stairs” every Tuesday and Thursday. We’re on the 10th floor, so they meet by the elevators and they either take the elevator down and walk/run up the 10 flights OR they walk/run down the 10 flights, then back up. I didn’t get the whole story on it, so I’m not sure which it is. But either way – LOTS of stairs. It sounds HORRIBLE if you ask me, but I am committed to walking/running (okay, who am I kidding, WALKING) the stairs with them at least once so I can give it a whirl. I’ll keep you guys updated on that… that is, if I don’t die in the process! Haha
So, needless to say, I definitely think the added movement will help me out. Even if it’s just walking around during the day, it’s more than I was doing at my last place – at my last job, I never left my desk, no wonder I got bored/fat!
What “non-traditional” exercises do you get in during the day/evening/when ever, really! I’d love to hear some more ideas….
While I’m on the topic of exercise… I met with the lovely PriorFatGirl Jen tonight after work to do some weights at the gym. She was so kind as to help me figure out which muscles I should be working out on certain days and helped me get familiar with some of the machines. Now… how can I say this delicately…? I hated her!!! Haha Okay, okay, I truly don’t hate her, but WOW! She worked out my biceps/triceps like it was no ones business! I was really working and she just kept pushing. It was great. My arms were sore by the time I started driving home! I put my arm up to fix my hair.. or something, and I could already feel the slightest bit of pain from doing that. Then, I came home and was making myself something to eat and I took the gallon of milk out of the fridge and my arm was SHAKING! Talk about a great work out, huh?
Thank you Jen!!!!! I appreciate it! Well, until I get SUPER sore, then I will promptly take that last statement back…
I hope you all have a fabulous day! Thanks for sticking with me during these past few crazy weeks. I appreciate it, you guys!
xoxo
Lindsay
