Bendable Celery

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on October 14, 2009

Last night I decided stay home and relax. I played with Iggy, did some random things around the house and by 9:30pm was curled up in bed to try & get closer to finishing The Time Travelers Wife…almost done! (But your right Syl, this was a very hard book to grasp at first)

Anyways, because I decided to lay low last night, that meant no gym. Which I told myself was okay because for Pete’s sake, I had already gone 3 days in a row and deserved a break.

Are you rolling your eyes at me? Cuz I sure was this morning when I thought about what I allowed myself to believe. Deserve a break? I had worked out 3 days in a row and allowed myself to take a break! I’m off my rocker! Seriously, I cannot allow for that to become a habit!

Stress Snacking
So now that I’ve gotten my workouts in a couple of days this week, I seem to have lost track of my eating. Maybe its the new job, the new environment and the fact that there is food everywhere but holy canoli, I just keep eating & snacking!

RIDICULOUS people! Its not even like I’m hungry but more so just because its there and because when I get too much on my plate (like now, at work) my first reaction is to say:

“Okay self, lets stop and think about this for a moment. Grab a snack and lets prioritize our to-do list.”

I swear, its not even like a mental thought. I can have 7 things due in the next hour and my first thought is to “quick, stop and grab a snack!” What the H.E.DOUBLE.HOCKEY.STICKS is that?! Okay, vent over with. Time to move on.

Bendable Celery
The other day, I decided to make a tuna sandwich. I looked in the fridge and saw some celery I had bought about 3 days earlier and thought it would be a good addition to the tuna sandwich. I grabbed it and as I was examing the celery & deciding which stalk to use, I realized something…

It was bendable!
er….ah…quite sure celery
isn’t suppose to be like this…

seriously, wheres the snapage?

I cut up a small piece of one of the bendy pieces just
for my tuna sandwich but threw the rest away. It
was a healthy tuna salad sandwich for less than 250 calories!

  • I agreed to participate in a challenge type thing my friend Missy over at the Ups and Downs of Losing Weight. The challenge was that I would give up soda for the entire month of October. FAIL. Saturday, October 3rd I was out to breakfast with Carlos and ordered a diet soda. Not full of calories but still, it was a soda. And of course, I let myself think “oh, well its too late now, might as well drink it.” Repeat on Sunday, October 11th but this time, twas Carlos who ordered the soda for me. I drank it. BUT…I’m not giving in – I will attempt to go the rest of the month with no soda!
  • My other friend, Missy from Missy Maintains has a giveaway going on – Halls Refresh Fruity Drops…6 calories per drop sounds delish to me! The description says to help moisten our mouths but they may be so good I would just eat ‘em like candy! PLUS…Missy‘s little kitty Daisy is adorable and worth the click!
  • PriorFatGirl E-Cookbook Update: OMG, there are so many amazingly yum recipes that ya’ll sent in! This is gonna take a little bit of time to compile so please be patient. I promise though, it’ll be worth it! I’ve got a special friend who is helping to drop in some tidbits of goodness throughout the cookbook to add a little extra umph to our cooking experience!

Alright, lets get the show on the road. The sooner we get through Wednesday, the sooner we get to the weekend!
