Hey guys! I’m back, as promised!
So, this post is actually going to have a focus and a point (so unlike me!)!! Let’s talk about “cheat days”. Do you guys have one?
My cheat days are Friday’s. When I FIRST started on this journey, I had cheat weekends. Yes, you read that right, cheat WEEKENDS. I was basically off plan ALL weekend and I would wonder WHY I wasn’t losing weight. Well, shucks – I bet I know why now! You can’t just “throw in the towel” on the weekends. It just doesn’t work like that. Look, theoretically speaking, if I would have a cheat weekend, every weekend, basically from Friday to Sunday for the month of September, I would be OFF PLAN for 12 days out of 30. That’s being OFF PLAN 40% of the time. That’s almost being off plan for half of the month. How stupid was I!? Of course, I didn’t look at it like that. I sure do now!
So a little further down the line, I realized, yeah, this cheat weekend BS isn’t working out for me. So, I STUCK to just having my cheat day. I chose Friday’s because I weigh in on Friday morning and so, I figure I have a whole week to get back on track. I also chose Friday’s because that’s when Adam and I have our “date night” – so I figured I could let myself go a little bit on Friday’s when we go out to dinner. This cheat day thing worked out okay. But I’m evolving.
Right now, as it stands, I pretty much have a cheat MEAL. My cheat meal is Friday’s when Adam and I go out to dinner. I’m on plan all day on Friday, I’ll eat my cheat meal with Adam, and then I’m right back on plan. I’ll be honest and admit to you that yes, sometimes it is more than just my cheat meal. Sometimes I do still slide a little bit on Friday’s, but I track my calories. When I had cheat days and cheat weekends (how stupid does that sound!?!?!) I wouldn’t even count my calories. I would just eat until I felt disgusting. Gross.
Sometimes, my cheat meal changes days, but for the most part, I stick to Friday’s so I can enjoy my meal out with Adam and not think AS MUCH about the calories (I still think about them and I still count them, I just don’t obsess – I let it slide a little bit).
What do you guys do? Do you have a cheat day? Do you think cheat days are good ideas or bad ideas (for YOU)? Sure, you might think cheat days are horrible, for YOU, but for me… it works, so let’s not knock each other. We’ll all here doing what works for us. For now. We’ll evolve in our plans, and maybe we won’t. Maybe what we do RIGHT NOW is working great for us and we’re sticking with it. This is working for me. I don’t anticipate a huge change anytime soon, but who knows what the future holds.
I’d love your feedback, ideas, comments, hate mail, constructive criticism, you get the idea!
xoxo
