Weekend Recap

by Lindsay, another priorfatgirl on August 3, 2009

Hello! Where do I begin…?

I have thought about Jen and her family so much over the weekend. If you don’t know her – she is just an amazing person. She is so supportive and inspirational and she and her family faced a major tragedy over the weekend. Her mother was walking and was hit and killed by a car backing out of a driveway. It’s such a horrible thing to happen to such a wonderful woman. I cannot being to imagine what she and her family must be going through. Jen’s mom left so many encouraging, loving comments on her blogs. She seemed like Jen’s number 1 fan, her number 1 cheerleader. It’s just heartbreaking. I was shocked when I read Jen’s post on Saturday morning. She had been approaching her 2 year anniversary of being healthy and active and she was SO close to 100 pounds lost, I went to her blog HOPING for an update on her weight loss journey (even though she had mentioned she wouldn’t update over the weekend, it was wishful thinking) instead I found a horrible sad blog – it brought tears to my eyes. Bad things are not supposed to happen to good people, like Jen. It’s so sad. She and her family have been in my thought and prayers constantly. Jen and I are actually from the same city – after following her blog forever, I just realized this a few weeks ago. There is a walk on Tuesday night in memory of her mom… I’m hoping to make it. Just a small way to show my support for her and her family during this extremely difficult and very unfair time in their life.

As far as the rest of my weekend goes… pretty quiet. Saturday afternoon I had a end of the season softball picnic – it was nice to hang out with some of my friends. After that, Adam and I went to dinner at El Loro – an AMAZING Mexican restaurant. I had been craving Mexican for a while and he gladly agreed to eat there since it’s one of his favorites. Nothing else on Saturday evening. Adam had worked all day, so he was wiped. I hung out with my little sister and went over to visit my grandma.

Sunday, I got up and went to BodyPump since I was……. lazy (yes, here is no other word for it!) and decided to sleep in on Saturday morning.

But… I went on Sunday. And it was AMAZING. I met up with one of my best friends EVER, Steph, and we took the class together. Here we are, just for fun…

The class really was great though. Sundays are not a day I usually go to the gym, but I think it’s going to start being a day I ALWAYS go to the gym because there was hardly anyone there. So, BodyPump is one of my mot favorite classes ever and I haven’t been for a few weeks due to being out of town and such… my thighs sure are feeling it today! Hurts so good. I got a text at 6:45 this morning from my friend Steph saying, “I am SO sore!!!!” – so it must have been a great workout for her as well. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it! It’s amazing.

Last but not least, I figured I would update you on the goals I had made for July. Not good. Well, not BAD, but I didn’t meet my goal of 1,200 minutes of activity. Since I’m at work, I can’t remember off the top of my head how many minutes I DID get, but I want to say it’s 800 something… that’s not too great, but I suppose it could have been worse. And my “focus on food” – definitely horrible. But that’s okay, you know why…? Because I can start again, right now, as a matter of fact. I can choose to be MORE active in August, I can CHOOSE to make better food decisions in August… so, that is what I’m going to do. I’ll write a blog with my more specific goals later (I need some time to think about it), but you can definitely expect that blog from me in the very near future (aka tonight or tomorrow)

Also, I want to give a big THANK YOU to Ash! She has GREAT activity charts and pointed me in the right direction to yank it off her blog, so THANK YOU Ash. I love your charts, they are super cute – I already have mine printed and am looking forward to filling it with stickers this month! :)

Since it completely slipped my mind, I have no (zip, zero, nada) pictures of any of my food from today… but I can tell you what I had anyways… :)
Breakfast:
- yogurt
- peach
Lunch:
- Smart One – Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans (YUM)
Snack:
- Apple
Dinner:
- sounds like it’s going to be meat loaf and a baked potato

THAT is the hard part about still living at home, no say in dinner… well, usually. My mom does the cooking so usually for dinner I eat what my family is having, but I try my hardest to watch my portion sizes… sometimes that works better than others.

Well my dears, I think for the time being, that is all I have for you. Please check back soon for my “Goals for August” blog and root me on while I try to accomplish those goals!

xoxo
Lindsay
