MIA

Good afternoon bloggies! Happy Monday (as happy as you can get for a Monday anyways!) I’m so sorry for being MIA. So, settle in for a long (probably TOO long!) update on my weigh in and my weekend! :)

Friday:
Well, you all know that Fridays are my weigh in days. I had promised said to you guys last week that I WAS going to lose. So, what do you think…? Do you think I lost…? If you do, you’re………….. WRONG! Haha I did gain on Friday – I gained 1.8. Honestly, I was expecting WAY worse than that. I had been sneaking peeks at my weight all week (shame, shame, I know.) and at one point, I was seeing a SEVEN pound gain from the previous week. So, 1.8. I’ll take it and I’ll get rid of it. I’m not letting this get me down. I have a whole lifetime of weigh ins – there will be gains and there will be losses. The goal is to have more losses than gains, right? :) I’m working on it. It’s funny though, because I track my weigh ins and I see a trend. Week 1, 2, 3 – lose, lose, lose. Week 4 & 5 – gain, gain. Week 6, 7, 8 – lose, lose lose. Week 9 & 10 – gain, gain. So, lose for 3 weeks and then gain the following 2…? Dumb. But, I can tell you, the gains were both around the time of my period… so maybe that’s just how it’s going to be. It’ll be interesting to keep watching the trend. I guess that means next week I’ll lose…? Scratch that… there is not “hoping” in weight loss! You either do it because you worked hard, or you don’t. That’s all it comes down to. So, I’ll work hard this week and we’ll see what the results say.
So, Friday at work, there were still donuts from Donut Day in the TV Sales department right next to where I work. So I was faced with a decision:

Eat a yummy donut – why not!? I had already weighed in that morning… I could work off that donut within the next week… right? Guess what I did… this is unheard of… well, for me at least considering I love donuts and chocolate and all things sweet – not to mention I was totally PMSing. I ate THIS:

Veggies and dip! How cool is that!? I was so proud of myself for making a nice, healthy decision. Especially since Adam and I have date night on Friday and I can anticipate eating more than normal. I decided to just munch on my veggies. They were good too, so no complaints – take that DONUT! :)

Saturday:
Started the day off with a lovely sweat session at BodyPump – MAN! I LOVE BODYPUMP!!! And one of my favorite instructors, Geena helped me a bunch on some moves that I was having difficulty with regarding my form… she’s great. I will SO miss her if I ever move and don’t go to that Y anymore. On Saturday afternoon, I had plans to meet my friends Sheena (hi love!) and Megan at noon at Ikea and the Mall of America for some shopping and lunch. So, I leave my house around 11:30am – it’s not that far. I didn’t get to Ikea until 12:45pm!!!!!! I was so crabby. Little did I know, part of the freeway that I take to get there was closed. Completely closed. I was sitting in traffic, not moving, getting crabbier by the second! It really sucked. Since my friends are wonderful, they just sat and chatted until I got there so we could shop together. They’re sweet. So, I get to Ikea and I find a few things I like, one being these lamps:

I think they’ll look nice on the nightstands when/if I EVER move. (Still waiting on the bank regarding the offer I have on this townhouse…. arg, don’t get me started) I also got some other lamps that I teeny, I think they’ll be cute night lights or something in the bathrooms if I ever get the place. We’ll see, I just liked them, so I’ll find some use for them. (I couldn’t find a picture on the Ikea website, they are CUTE though!)

After Ikea, we walked over the the Mall of America for some lunch – we decided on some Mexican:

OMG – it was DELISH! Another friend, Amber, met up with us for lunch. The food was great, however, we were starving after our Ikea shopping experience, so stupidly, we chowed down on chips and salsa and when our meal finally got to us, we weren’t even that hungry. Megan and I got these burritos, holy sh*t! Those things were the size of my head!!! I took home at least half of it. It was a monster. And so good. And of course, I didn’t take a picture… damn.
After lunch, we went our separate ways, however, we did meet up later and went to a Twins Baseball game. Here’s Sheena and Amber with their rally caps on…. they didn’t work though, we lost.

The game was fun. It was Adam, Me, Megan, Sheena, Amber and Steph. It was good to have some of the girls from college back together again… oh, plus Adam. :)
After the game, Adam and I headed home and started to watch a movie, My Best Friend’s Girl. I made it through the whole thing… not Adam. He was sound asleep. Can’t say I blame him, he was up at like 6:30am on Saturday to head into work by 7:30am.

Sunday:
Yesterday was pretty quiet for the most part. Woke up around 10am and went for a walk with Lisa (a good neighbor friend) around the neighborhood with her dogs for about a half hour. She wanted to show me some houses that were for sale. A couple of them were nice… but within WALKING DISTANCE from the parents house… maybe a little too close. I love my family, but what’s the point in moving (and PAYING) when I could just stay pretty much where I’m at. I’ll hold out on my Shakopee townhouse that I love so much…

At 2pm, me and my sisters and my mom headed over to my aunts house for my cousins Bridal Shower. My cousin Jenny is hilarious. She is so witty and funny. We had a pretty good time. I have determined though, when I get married, no little children at the Bridal shower… it was stressful because the little flower girl insisted on helping Jen open her gifts… which is fine. But there were multiple times when she dropped thing and tripped over things… and her mother didn’t really say much… stressed me out because it’s not “your place” to say something, but it was just very distracting and nerve wracking, no one wants their gift getting broken because a kid drops it. I love kids, I realize I sound like a bia… but whatever!! :)

After the shower, my older sister, Jessica and I headed to Kohls. I needed new flip flops. I ended up with 2 pair of flip flops and 3 pairs of heels. I have a problem. Seriously though, I got 5 pairs of shoes for only $52!!! The pair I’m wearing today were only $5.49!!! You cannot beat that! I’ve already gotten a couple of compliments on them….:

Super cute. :) (sorry for the weird pic, I wanted you to see the side too! :)

After shopping, my sister headed over to my OTHER cousins house to get her hair done (Kayla is in cosmetology school) and I headed home to eat dinner before I headed over to Kayla’s to have her do MY hair! :) The verdict: it’s light. Lighter than I wanted and a little chunkier than I wanted too… but it’s growing on me. She said if I’m not happy with it, we can meet up on Wednesday (she’s out of town until then) to fix it up. We’ll see what I decide. :) What do you think about it:

(I look slightly challenged… Haha!)
I think it’s cute. It’s not BAD, by any means… it’s just not what I was expecting. I’ve gotten plenty of compliments on my hair today… so it must look okay! :)

Anyways my friends, that’s about all I have for now. Sorry for the REALLY LONG post – no more skipping blogging – it makes for a really long “catch up” post. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! I’ll be back tomorrow!

xoxo

Happy Monday lovlies! How was your weekend? Mine was good, we had a great time with Chris & Lisa and can’t wait until they come back already! I love sharing pictures so hold on tight, I got a lot to share with ya!

Friday’s Double Date
Chris & Lisa came in Friday afternoon. We hung out at my parents house for a couple hours talking & catching up then decided it was time for din din.

We headed to Red Dragon in Uptown. If you haven’t been here before, it’s kind of a dive restaurant but has the most unbelievable drink menu and delish food. Not healthy but so good!

I ordered the chicken lo mein and ate 1/4 of it

I also ordered the Almond Ding Punchum…ok, I had two and a half.

Saturday S’Mores
We got up on Saturday and made breakfast. Mid-morning, my friend Stacie dropped off a gift from her and another friend, Deanna.

A beautiful hibiscus tree!!
I really do love it, it is amazing and will be something I can look at and be continually reminded of my mom.

After breakfast and googling over my new hibiscus tree, we headed up to my parents lake. It was a little chilly out so my aunt, uncle & dad had a fire going already.
It was nice & warm!
The men played poker.
The ladies cozied up by the fire & played Catch Phrase. I love that game!
Once it got dark and the once the fire calmed down, I found
some marshmallows randomly on a stick and decided to roast them.
My marshmallow fell between a graham
cracker and a hershey’s chocolate!

Sunday & Yoda
Sunday we had originally planned on going to the Great Minnesota Get Together, the Minnesota St. Fair but once we all got up and moving, we decided going out for breakfast was a much better idea! We ended up at Fat Nats Eggs where we ate a delish breakfast & multiple cups of coffee.

Considering our options for the early afternoon, we decided to take a little walk through the Animal Humane Society. Carlos and I have been talking about adding to our family (uh, family of 2 anyways). I found an adorable domestic short hair kitten named Yoda who was a ball of energy and only 8 weeks old. And trust me, ADORABLE in every sense of the word! I’m sad to report we decided not to take Yoda home because Carlos has his heart set on bringing home a puppy.

I was sad to leave Yoda there but I know there is a perfect addition in our future soon. I can’t wait to find the puppy and am so excited. Carlos said at the end of September we can look more seriously – did I mention I can’t wait?!

How do I Yoga?
I’ve done yoga twice in my life. I really enjoyed it, it was very calming. My friend MizFit sent me a yoga mat to help give me an outlet for all of this emotion I’ve been dealing with the past month.

Thanks MizFit!

This is all I know how to do on a yoga mat.
Just lay there! HA!

A couple months ago, I was going to try to incorporate more yoga into my life and had heard about yogadownload.com. This is a site that offers free yoga instruction to download as well as some classes you can buy.

I tried both – I tried a couple of the free as well as paid for 2 (not expensive at all). But the problem is the free ones were audio only and I didn’t know the names of the poses so didn’t make it very far. The ones you can buy have the option of coming with slides powerpoint so I spent more time waiting for the slide to change instead of concentrating on my breathing.

so…I’m taking it to the blog. There are so many yoga DVD’s to chose from – does anyone have any beginner video’s to recommend? I am looking for something relaxing but also a workout.

Alright friends, better get going. Have a great Monday!

Winner announced!

Hi friends,Winner winner chicken dinner! Congratulations to

Andrea, please email me your home adress to jen@priorfatgirl.com

Quiet on the blog today
I’m laying low on the bloggin’ today – wanna know why? Cuz I had dinner with some friends last night and enjoyed 2 margarita’s. Last night, I came home and gave myself some extra relaxation time instead of writing a lenghty blog post – ha!

Weekend Plans
Tonight, we have some friends, Chris & Lisa, coming in from Milwaukee. If you remember, this was the beautiful couple who gave us a reason to head to Mexico in May to attend their wedding. Dinner tonight is at the Minneapolis Uptown favorite, Red Dragon.

Tomorrow we are planning on waking up and going to my parents land they have in Wisconsin – its about 45 minutes and it’s on a private lake. There is no house, just a dock and a boat way far out where there is barely any cell phone reception. Sounds nice huh? Expect pictures of smores!

Sunday will be a trip to the ever popular Minnesota State Fair. I’m talkin’ cheese curds, corn dogs and anything else that stikes a non-health conscious’ fancy.

Until Monday comes again, may we each continue to pray for each other, may we each continue to hold our heads high, and may we each just take it one step at a time.
