Happy Hump Day & A Giveaway

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on July 15, 2009

Whew, you guys continue to blow me away by your comments. I want to comment on a few from yesterday but just wanted to give you a heads up if you read today’s ENTIRE post, you will find a reward at the end in the form of a give away.

Water Challenge
First things first, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Did you read the comments yesterday? I challenged you to drink only water from now until August 1st. Fine, I agree if you are drinking them green monster thingies or tea or milk or something healthy then fine, you should continue to drink them. But noooooooo…..a majority of you commented and said you “couldn’t” give up your coffee. Wait a minute here. Do you think it would be a challenge if it were easy?

I’m not asking you to move North America next Europe. I’m asking you to give up coffee, something of which has little to no health benefits what so ever.

If you stopped drinking coffee for a couple of days and you find yourself cranky, do you ever stop to consider what is in the coffee in the first place? Don’t you find it odd if you stop drinking coffee, you go through withdrawal? Wouldn’t it be this exact withdrawal that should make you consider what kind you are putting in your body?

Yep, I eat me some processed foods. I drink coffee every once in a while or soda or eat something that is not good for me. I don’t eat organic all the time. BUT I do try to make an active attempt (however successful I am is another story) an active attempt to be conscious of what I’m putting in my body and what I think I “need.”

I’m not perfect, I agree but I sure was surprised to see so many comments from ya’ll who REFUSE to give up coffee because you can’t function with out it. “I enjoy my morning coffee” is different then “I need my morning coffee to function.”

Just something to think about – I’ll get off my soap box now.

Redefining the challenge.
I’m assuming many of you will persistent in not giving up your coffee. If that’s you, your challenge is to cut your coffee intake IN HALF, replace with water AND cut out any additional non-health related beverages (wine, soda, beer, etc). Does that work? No? Fine – tell me what YOU WILL DO!!!

Calories
Ruby Leigh made a VERY GOOD comment I wanted to point out. To digress, sometimes I write things which make sense at the moment but to someone else reading later, may have a completely different meaning or may not be in the same context as was in my head when I wrote it.

I wrote yesterday I was holding off on purchasing a heart rate monitor & calorie counter thingie because I was scared it would tell me to eat more calories and if it did, I would probably ignore it. BUT…as Ruby Leigh pointed out, this could be read in a variety of ways.

This is a hard topic for me because there are some things I have yet to address on this blog. Today is not the day. But let me just say this. My eating has always been an issue for me. I have struggled with it in a variety of ways. Because of that, I am super sensitive to how “extreme” I become. I try to be very aware and perceptive to my own feelings and actions. My support system is also very sensitive to my actions.

What I failed to do, was be accountable to you, my readers. I started this blog with just the intent to share my journey, share frustrations with others and receive support. But over the past year, it has also become a source of inspiration and motivation for so many. So, it is my responsibility to you, my readers & my friends, to ensure the message I write every day is not misread or encourages unhealthy actions.

Your comments mean a lot to me – I take into consideration everything you say and just want to say thank you for always being open with me. I appreciate them all, agree or disagree.
