Friday Ramblings

by Jen, a priorfatgirl on July 10, 2009

I hope Tony has a head band cuz he sure will be sweating up a storm! Member that little stairmaster invitational challenge he started? Yep, he’s about to eat his words (ok, this is my lame attempt at talkin’ smack).

Comments are still racking up, total time as of 10:15pm Thursday night for Tony is 1 hour, total time for me is 45 minutes. (and I know none of you are leaving comments on Tony’s page to add more time to mine right? )

Don’t stop now! Please copy this link http://www.priorfatgirl.com/2009/07/stairmaster-invitational.html into a new email message, and then forward it to everyone you know! Keep the comments rollin’ until Tonight at 5pm okay? Let’s see how long we can keep Tony on that stair stepper monter thingie!

These people are serious!
Tuesday, I posted a picture of my sweaty backside. Boy oh boy was I serious about kicking some major poundage to the curb! Then it occurred to me, I wonder how serious ya’ll are about being healthy. Are you just doing a nice ‘ol walk on the treadmill? Are you jumpin on the elliptical but barely breaking a sweat?

So I thought I’d throw it out there and ask to see your face in all its sweaty glory. And yep, you did not fail – here are a few of my friends who are serious!

Did I miss any? Send them my way!

Frozen Meals Are Frozen
This week, I decided to step outside of my normal frozen meal box and make my own lunch. I’m not as creative as everyone else seems to be, so this was very difficult. 3 out of the 5 days, I made a sandwich. I’m not fond of eating a sandwich every day. A wrap is close to a sandwich. Salads seem to not do the trick (as evident here).

Here is my sandwich from Tuesday. What else do you got for lunch idea’s? Bring it!

Better Whey Yogurt

I received a couple of samples the other day from Better Whey Yogurt. I really wasn’t sure what to expect as this yogurt comes packed with a pretty serious claim: 15-17 grams of protein in each 6oz cup of yogurt and about 145 calories.
I tried the french vanilla flavor first and I gotta be honest, after the first spoonful I examined the cup closely looking for an expiration date. It was good for another week so I took another spoonful. Yep, pretty sour non/sweet taste. I wasn’t a fan. I was about to throw it in the garbage when my cubeyneighbor said good morning.

I showed her the yogurt and handed her a spoon. One bite and her eyes lit up! She said it was good! I figured something must be wrong with my spoon so I tried again – nope, still sour.

Cubeyneighbor said it tasted like greek yogurt (which I have never tried) and that she would totally eat it. She said she would probably mix it with some cut up fruit. Refusing to let this yogurt go to waste, I tried again:

The Acai Mixed Berry with cut up strawberry’s. Not bad – as long as I made sure to eat a strawberry with it! I probably would not buy this again just because I haven’t been eating a lot of yogurt lately – also, I’m pretty confident I would not have eaten this before I was a priorfatgirl. That may not say much; I went out to eat a lot.

SO…try it yourself & come to your own conclusion!

I want pancakes!
I used to be a server at Perkins. This is one of those restaurants that serves breakfast 24 hours a day. Whenever I would bring out someones pancakes, I would drool – pancakes are so yummy! Covered in ooey-gooey toppings, YUM! I really haven’t eaten a lot of pancakes in the past couple of years though.

Well, my mom (HI MOM!!!) ran across a post on SpunkySuzi’s site about her pancakes (she loves her pancakes!) and so we gave the recipe a try. I am now in love. With SpunkySuzi and with her pancakes. You MUST try them tomorrow morning!

Apple protein pancakes:
1 apple grated (some in and some on the side)
2 egg whites
1/3c oats put into blender until ground into a fine powder
1/4tsp baking powder
sweetener
a splash of milk/soy

This weekend
We have no plans. Well, I have a hair appointment on Saturday but other then that, no plans. I am actually looking forward to a very lowkey weekend. Maybe find some new blogs to read? Venture out and actually look at a real book? HA, maybe I’ll go out and see what civilization looks like & step away from the computer!

Feel free to comment any recommendations for my free time!

Monday Challenge Update
I have an announcement I’d like to make on Monday regarding the challenge. Nothing sad or bad – actually, something I’m pretty confident will make it a little more exciting. For me anyways! Stay healthy this weekend & be healthy with all of your decisions. And make sure to keep an eye on Annabel @ Feed Me I’m Cranky

Do not wait for Monday to start again – DO IT NOW!
