HOLY FOODNESS! Saturday was so amazing! Carlos and I felt so honored to be included in the morning, when the more traditional private wedding took place. There weren’t very many other people who were non-family members besides us. Very amazing!
I’ll start at the beginning and try to give as much detail as possible but just know it was an ENTIRE day of activities and the pictures are way more fun anyways! (Dori, I hope you can see them!)
Dress #1
Isn’t it beautiful! Sandy, the bride, had it sent all the
way from Vietnam just for me…I love it!
Saturday morning was the traditional Vietnamese wedding. Here are the bride & groom, so beautiful!
Traditionally, the groom & groom’s family bring gifts to the bride’s family. Here is one of the gifts (which smelled amazing although they didn’t serve it)

At about 11am, we headed to the church for mass & the 2nd wedding.
Bride & groom again, maid-of-honor and best man.
Mass & this wedding took 1.5 hours – long but amazingly beautiful! I don’t speak Vietnamese so I didn’t understand most of what was said at either ceremony but it still was absolutely beautiful!
The original plan was to go back to the brides house for lunch but the father of the groom has been very ill lately (cancer) and wasn’t able to make it to the wedding. Both families ended up going to the fathers house so Carlos and I had a couple hours break before the reception.
Where did we end up? Que Veit, a yummy yummy little Vietnamese restaurant where I managed to snag a picture of my honey bunney in his new glasses!
The man who continues to amaze me every day!
We split an order of egg rolls
Carlos got chicken wings

I got the chicken rice noodle soup. It was delish!
and…I might have been able to snag *some* fortune cookies
We went home, I took a quick 45min nap and changed into dress #2
In the car, on the way to reception
At the reception
(hhmm..not sure what’s up with the yellow tone in the picture)
AND HERE’S WHERE THE FOOD STARTS
Picture about 15 tables, each with 10 people sitting there. Dinner was served in large family style dishes at each table. I am not kidding, ridiculous amounts of food! They brought out everything about 15 minutes apart so we had time to eat one thing before the next dish was brought out. So let’s start:
Egg Drop Soup

Egg rolls, chicken wings, sweet & sour chicken, bbq chicken & duck
My plate!
Chicken & Broccoli
Fruit
The most amazing fried rice I’ve ever eaten!
Braised chicken

Scallops, noodles & veggie salad
Stuffed crab
Now, here’s when I stopped eating.
Lobster(not on my plate)
Walleye(not on my plate)
Shrimp
(not on my plate)
But I resumed eating when they pulled out the heavenly cake!

I was so stuffed by the end of the night but didn’t feel like I binged. I had tiny servings of almost everything.
Dress #3 – No show!
I did have it but didn’t end up wearing it. It was suppose to be for after the reception when we went downtown but we were all so tired & so full that we didn’t make it downtown. Carlos and I were home and I was sleeping by 11pm!
and, there ya have it. A day of serious serious serious eating and one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to!
AND THAT MY FRIENDS, IS WHY I WAS TOTALLY OKAY WITH MY WEIGH IN YESTERDAY!
See ya on Wednesday!
