May 2009

aaawww…thank you SO MUCH for the congratulations yesterday! I really am excited, although its a very surreal feeling, to say I’m done. I am not sure what’s next for me, only time will tell – although I am super excited and can’t wait!

I had a lot of time to reflect the past week about why this vacation was so exciting for me and came up with a number of reasons

  • The last vacation I had was a mother/daughter trip, pre-weight loss to NYC for 4 days. Before that, it was when I was a teenager!
  • I have never taken a vacation with someone I cared so much about, love you Carlos! (chorus of aaawww’s)
  • I have never been the size I am, this in itself makes this vacation special!
  • I brought along a special outfit, an outfit for the water – SAY WHAT???
  • I let myself relax – relax my mind, yes, but more importantly, I decided not to care about what others thought of me

Alright, I know I know – you wanna see the pictures! I’ll let them do the talking for today. I will come back tomorrow to share with you more about the last two bullets

Monday we arrived, checked into the hotel & spent the afternoon by the pool.

Here is the view from our room
Tuesday, Carlos and I woke up and went shopping

I found a Dairy Queen, perfect for a 100 degree day!

The rest of the week went like this:

Playing in the pool

Eating by the pool

Drinking by the pool

The entire trip was full of perfect moments! The weather was perfect, each day was full of the perfect amount of rest/relaxation & fun/entertainment, the wedding was amazingly beautiful – seriously….I have nothing bad about this trip AT ALL.
I ate, drank & laid around. My butt has NOT seen the inside of the gym in over two weeks. You read that right, TWO WEEKS! I will go to the gym today at lunch – I must. There is no way I am going back to being fat. I cannot allow myself to get out of the working out habit.

No worries, I have an action plan. I will reveal my super-de-duper action plan on Monday. I can’t wait to share it with you, ya’ll are gonna LOVE IT!

ONE MORE THING: I have one more picture from Mexico, saving it for tomorrow because it deserves a post in itself – come back :)

Oh man, did I miss blogging! But it sounds like everyone really enjoyed Amanda, another priorfatgirl. THANK YOU AMANDA! I had an amazing time in Mexico and have a lot of pictures to share with you.

I know ya’ll are so so excited to see pictures & hear how Mexico was but before I get into that, I am going to stop and dedicate this post to something not physically healthy, but mentally healthy. (Warning, sappy post ahead!)

1.5 Years in the Making

While it is true I have spent the past 1.5 years working on my physical appearance, some of you may also know I have spent the same amount of time working on growing mentally, emotionally and psychologically.

Carlos and I went to Mexico for a friends wedding, which took place on Friday night. Although it was a late night of celebrating, we woke up after 3 hours of sleep and hopped on a plane to rush back to Minneapolis for a very important event.

MY GRADUATION!!

I did it guys, I graduated with my Master’s in Organizational Leadership. They gave me my Masters hood!

And…to make this special event even more amazing, is the fact that I was joined by my little sister Alicia, who graduated with her B.A. in Business Management.

To My Dad: Thank you for your guidance & continuous support. The advice you have given me over the years have helped me to make decisions which have catapulted me to achieve things beyond my dreams. Only a few people know the true importance of this next statement: Thank you for saving my life. I love you!

To My Mom: Thank you for never letting me forget who I am and the importance of smiling. No matter what, you have always been there to encourage me to never give up and always look for another way, another answer, another option. The importance of your guidance is indescribable, no words will do justice. Only a few people know the true importance of this next statement: Thank you for saving my life. I love you!

To My Sister, Alicia: We did it! Can you believe it! I love you so much and am so proud of everything you have accomplished! Thank you for always listening to me, for sharing your experiences with me and for always being excited for everything we’ve gone through!

To My Sister, Melinda: My big sister, thank you for always being there to listen to me go on my little tangents about school, what we are learning and whatever my thought was for the day. I know some days I rambled and rambled and appreciate every minute of our conversations!

To My Sister, Heidi: Thank you for letting me confide in you, for always being there to listen to my problems with no bias or judgements and for always being proud of me. You have been an amazing source of support.

To Carlos: Your support has meant more then I can convey. Your encouragement to never give up has kept me going. Your constant reminder of how far I’ve come has kept me from giving up so many times. Your love, despite my flaws, has shown me what it truly means to trust, what it means to love unconditionally, what it means to forgive, and what it means support each other. I love you!

To everyone else: My friends, my co-workers, my bloggin’ friends, thank you for listening to me vent, whine, and complain day after day about my homework & studies. I can now look back and say, it was truly worth every minute of it!

Mexico: Ok ok ok, I know you really came back today to hear about Mexico – I promise I will share the details….tomorrow. Until then, here are three more pictures to tie you over!
