Luvin’ me a co-op

Up and shining at 4:30am today. Trainer appt at 5am, did cardio, came home & got Carlos up. I’m now showered, did a load of laundry and ate oatmeal. . .And it’s only 7:45. THIS IS GREAT!!! ok, 4:30 was rough and I will probably only be great until 3pm at which point I will begin to decrease until I resort to curling up under my desk. Don’t come looking for me.

uh…am I the only one who has ever NOT gone into a co-op? I guess I’ve never had a reason to venture out. Cub Foods does me just fine! Or so I thought.

I had lunch with a friend on Tuesday. It was more a networking lunch and we went to this dive Chinese restaurant, called Red Dragon. It is the restaurant Carlos took me to on our first date (chorus of “aaawwwsss“). Anyways, I ordered a large wonton soup (my fav!) but didn’t eat much because I talked so much. When we left, I was starving but didn’t want to look like an idiot drinking soup & driving, so I walked across the street to a place called The Wedge Co-Op.

I walked in and it was like HEAVEN!!! (a pretty expensive HEAVEN!). I turned down the bulk bin isle and it was like plethora of tiny heavens all nestled neatly, labeled with nutritional content below the description. I didn’t have much time to wander but I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!

I looked at a few bins and found chocolate chunks of energy. Okay, the were called something else but the title had “Chocolate” and “Energy” in it, so I was sold. Two chunks were 130 calories

As I was walking towards the checkout lane, a LUNA Bar Display caught my attention. There were so many different kinds…which Cub Foods doesn’t carry. I bought a couple and am so excited to try them!

A couple hours after lunch & the chocolate energy chunks, my tummy started making noise, so I ate the Berry Almond bar. It was okay…not my favorite, but not too bad. It was purple…so maybe the visual color threw me for a loop?

I normally eat 1/2 a protein bar on my way to the gym and the other 1/2 after the gym. YUM!

I forgot to share with you guys! Last Saturday, when we were in Wisconsin we went out for breakfast at this place called Cracker Barrel. In the front of the restaurant, they have a store full of candy & chocolate…some of which is hard to find stuff from the “old-days.” Anyways, they had one of those HUGE spiral suckers on a wooden stick and so I grabbed on for my niece. When we got in the car, I turned it over and looked at the calories (ug…I’m so addicted to nutritional stickers). It said 60 calories per serving and it had 11 servings. This baby has 660 calories. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know how many licks it takes….but better spread the licks out over a week or so!

Anyways, back to the co-op. I seriously am loving this Wedge place. There were so many bulk bins to look at, and I didn’t even make it to the cooler section or down any other isle. I’m going to have to check this place out when I have time (and money!).

Do you guys go to co-ops? Do you shop the bulk bins? I never have…what should I get? Any advice for a virgin co-op priorfatgirl?

This week has been a tough workout week. I have had to drag myself to the gym Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I mean literally drag myself to the gym. I am not in love with working out lately.

Tuesday morning, I had a session with my trainer at 6am. At 5:30am, my alarm went off. I laid there for 10 minutes thinking of excuses to tell Eric as to why I stood him up. Here is what I came up with:
*I forgot to set my alarm
no, that wouldn’t work, cuz I was awake

*My car wouldn’t start
Nope, couldn’t say that, I hadn’t tried to start it yet

*I didn’t have any clean workout pants left
ugghh…I did a load of laundry the night before

*I forgot I had an appointment
not even believe-able, I’m so anal about being on time…
I was not born with the desire to be active. I didn’t play sports in high school. I hated gym class. I only work out because I HAVE TO. Yep, I have to work out. If I don’t, then there wouldn’t be this blog. I would just be a fat girl. It would be Jen, a fatgirl. Not Jen, a priorfatgirl.
So this blog is my accountability. I can’t get fat now. I have to keep going. I cannot allow myself to let the excuses win. Because if the excuses win, I loose. I get fat again.
Its been 1.5 years into my journey and it hasn’t gotten any easier to get my butt to the gym. For the rest of my life, this will be my battle. Does it ever get easier? Have you been able to achieve a love love relationship with the gym? Please….tell me its possible.

Someone, give me hope.

UH….EXCUSE ME? INSECTS? OMG! I know I’m being a total drama queen here and I probably don’t want to know about the insects living in the other food I eat, but I would rather be oblivious! Okay, enough of the drama. GET TO WORK! :)
